Work Party Sunday 4 May 2025
Meet 9.55am at The Iron Bridge
Dear all
Friends of Stockers had the idea of creating a wild flower meadow on an area of grass close by the Iron Bridge and adjacent to cattle field 3. I'm pleased to report that we have started that project.
Firstly, our work party set about cutting the grass and raking away the cuttings. We then raked further into the grass in metre square blocks to plant plugs of yellow rattle, (removes nutrients from grass roots thus allowing less robust wild flowers a chance to thrive), clover and white campion, also beneficial to rewilding. We added a sprinkling of mixed wild flower seeds and watered.
Another team continued work from last month maintaining cattle fences.
Many thanks to Ken Davies, Tony and Sheila Lee, Alison Marriott, Sylvine Greaves, Janet Lowndes, Linda Ascroft, Katie and Dan, Nick and Christine Gray, Russell Ball and Nigel Daley
Best wishes
