View highlights of our 2024 live stream to date

A video featuring four minutes of stunning highlights to date from our live stream of a 2024 Grey Heron nest is now publicly available. You can view it below or on our YouTube channel. The video was seen for the first time at our Annual General Meeting on April 17th for which it was especially produced.

The video features the whole story to date of a pair of grey herons raising a family. It covers all stages of the breeding season including: the selecting and enhancing of a nest; the birds mating; the laying and incubating of eggs; the eggs hatching; the feeding of chicks; the sad demise of one chick; the growth and development of the other two into nearly full grown size at the present time.

The season is still ongoing. The two chicks continue to be regularly fed at the nest by their two parents. They are expected to fledge around April 28th and then stay in the vicinity of the nest for a further 10-15 days before moving on elsewhere.
