The weather has been unpredictable of late and it didn't disappoint this Sunday. It was very challenging for all who decided to take a chance with the elements.
We continued hedge laying with two experienced volunteers and a new recruit who has, in the past, had some experience with this task. They were able to lay a section of hedge and start installing stakes and binders from our stock of materials gathered last month.
The rest of us worked in an area west of Shoveler hide. The view from the pathway had become obscured by low hanging oak branches and the waters edge had brush and young trees restricting access for wildfowl to the area. To protect the area, having cleared the undergrowth, we set about building a dead hedge along one section of the pathway and planting young hedge whips on another.
